BRYN MAWR, PA - September 9, 2009 -- Peggy Noonan, the popular best-selling author, former presidential speechwriter and political commentator will help launch The American College's annual Knowledge Summit in Boston this October. Noonan will offer her take on "Washington and Your Wallet."

Noonan has been an influential force in journalism and politics since the late 1970s. Five of her seven books have been New York Times bestsellers and she received an Emmy Award nomination for her work on the post-9/11 television special, "America: A Tribute to Heroes."

"Peggy Noonan's expertise in journalism and politics makes her an exciting addition to this year's Knowledge Summit," said Larry Barton, President and CEO of The American College. "Her fascinating career, spanning from the White House to The Wall Street Journal, enables her to provide a unique, informed perspective on the thought process behind government decisions and the potential impact on financial services."

After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Noonan started her career as a journalism professor at New York University. She then became a producer at CBS News in New York, writing and producing television news specials as well as Dan Rather's daily radio newscast. In 1984, she entered the Reagan White House as a speechwriter and special assistant to Ronald Reagan. When George H.W. Bush ran for office in 1988, she served as his chief speechwriter.

Noonan holds honorary degrees from Miami University, Saint Francis College, Adelphia University, St. John Fisher College and Fairleigh Dickinson University. She was an advisor on the television drama The West Wing and one of ten historians and writers selected to contribute essays exploring the American presidency for the book, "Character Above All."

Some of Noonan's more recent books include, "When Character Was King: A Story of Ronald Reagan;" "A Heart, A Cross and A Flag;" and "Patriotic Grace: What It Is and Why We Need It Now."

Each year, The American College Knowledge Summit gathers the top thought leaders of the financial services industry for four full days of networking and education. Attendees have the opportunity to hear from industry powerhouses and earn CE credit. This year's Summit will be held from October 27-30 in the historic city of Boston and features world renowned thought leaders including Peter Lynch and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.
