Prior to joining the FPA Herbst was an instructor at The American College where he taught in the Master of Science in Financial Services and the prestigious Chartered Leadership Fellow programs. In 1999, Herbst also co-founded The Center For Distance Learning at The American College. The Center was created to develop computer-mediated educational resources, serve as a communication link to companies committed to e-learning innovation, and partner with other non-profits and for-profits involved in the development of blended learning solutions. While at the American College, Herbst, in conjunction with Penn State, led the development of a customized, eight-course certificate program in financial services management.

Bob Herbst is a core associate faculty member of the LaSalle University Graduate Program in Professional Communication where he has taught Communication Management: Media and Public Relations since 1989. In 1999, professor Herbst was presented with LaSalle’s “von Allman Teacher of the Year” award.

Herbst completed the Master of Arts degree in Radio, Television and Film from Bowling Green State University (Ohio) and has undertaken post-master’s studies at Rice University and Southern Methodist University.
