The Washington Post
is reporting that Social Security
recipients, along with some of those who were expecting a tax refund, may have seen part of their income/benefit/return decreased or completely taken away due to a debt incurred by a parent or even a sibling.
"Across the nation, hundreds of thousands of taxpayers who are expecting refunds this month are instead getting letters informing them that because of a debt they never knew about, often a debt incurred by their parents, the government has confiscated their check."
This is just a start to the problem that I haven mentioned. Thanks to Filial Support Laws
coupled with the Medicaid Expansion this problem is not going away, but thankfully, as ABC reported recently, this practice has been delayed ... for now.
