On April 11, the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) and the National Retirement Planning Coalition hosted a webinar for financial advisors featuring staff members from the Social Security Administration. The webinar, presented as part of National Retirement Planning Week®, was intended to help advisors facilitate conversations with their clients about the program and to help them understand their Social Security benefits and claiming options.
“Social Security will factor into almost every American’s retirement income plan,” said Cathy Weatherford, IRI President and CEO. “Americans need to understand how Social Security fits within their holistic retirement plans and make informed decisions regarding their benefits. Our research shows that working with a financial advisor can help Americans regain their confidence regarding their retirement plans, and so those who are unsure about how Social Security works or how it will fit into their financial future, should consult an advisor.”
IRI and the National Retirement Planning Coalition have designated Social Security as the April theme for its six-month national campaign, a newly announced effort to expand on the success of National Retirement Planning Week® by focusing on retirement planning concepts each month.
