Florida residents can pick up more than just pounds of coffee and a 30-roll package of toilet paper at Costco—they can now buy health insurance there.

Aetna is now offering individual health insurance plans to Costco members in Florida, the Hartford, Conn.-based health insurer said last week. The Costco Personal Health Insurance program insured by Aetna includes five plans and offers broad major medical benefits, dental options, an extensive network of doctors and hospitals, and a variety of services, tools and information tailored to meet the needs of Costco members. They also offer lower copays on prescriptions filled at Costco pharmacies.

The insurer announced their plan to sell insurance through the wholesale club operator last April. Florida becomes the eleventh state where the program is offered; the Costco Personal Health Insurance program is also available to Costco members in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.

“We recognize the importance of providing affordable health solutions that deliver value and convenience to individuals and families. We are proud to join with a respected retailer like Costco to provide health insurance options to their members in Florida,” says Barbara DeMaio, head of individual business for Aetna.

John Conlon, director of insurance services for Costco, says the program adds significant value to its shoppers. For one thing, he says, “the opportunity for Costco members to access lower cost pharmacy services at their local warehouse is convenient and affordable, and speaks to Aetna’s commitment to making health care easier to use.”

Costco currently operates 622 warehouses, including 448 in the United States.
