When it comes to employee health concerns, weight loss
comes in as the top concern, according to 39 percent of employees in a poll by ComPsych, a provider of employee assistance programs.
Another 26 percent of respondents report that stress is most concerning while 17 percent are most worried about exercising. Meanwhile, 9 percent of respondents are troubled by diet improvements, and 6 percent of concerned with quitting smoking.
"Weight loss is not surprisingly the No. 1 health concern this year," says Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz, chairman and CEO of ComPsych. "What is significant is that many more employees are aware of stress as a major contributor to health problems. Corporate wellness programs that address both physical and emotional health are uniquely suited to help employees make lasting lifestyle changes, which will ultimately reduce health and disability costs while improving productivity."
