Ever since Google launched it's penguin update, local became the name of the game. Google is known for making updates that help people find exactly what they're looking for, and they've decided that finding local businesses first is what people want. We love this update because it helps every small business in the country compete with the big dogs, and they can't do anything to stop it.
Basically, Google has boosted the ranking of anyone who is listed locally when a search is done in that particular area. They've also increased the amount of local listings that pop up on the first page. Getting listed locally is by far and away the easiest way to increase your search engine optimization (SEO) in a matter of minutes.
