The benefit of a life settlement for the seller is cash beyond their payment or surrender cash value. But what of the buyer or investor? The benefit of investing in life settlements is that it's practically a non-correlated asset. And if the investor is willing to take a mid- to long-term range position with life settlements, the returns could be similar to a zero coupon bond.
