The price per barrel for oil this morning dipped toward $78 amid tropical storm Bonnie having wound down along with fears related to a halt in Gulf oil production.

In fact, the cost of crude for September delivery was down 56 cents to a figure of $78.42 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

This action on the exchange follows a dip of 32 cents on Friday, which had resulted in the closing price having settled at $78.98.
