Jobless claims rise unexpectedly
New claims for state unemployment aid rose unexpectedly last week, according to the Labor Department.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted 472,000, fueled by fears the economic recovery is slowing down.
Nonfarm payrolls likely fell 110,000 last month, which would be the first decline of the year. Employment increased 431,000 in May.
