The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid is extending the Dec. 7 enrollment deadline for three days for some individuals enrolling in a Medicare prescription drug plan or private health plan.
CMS said the extension is in response to an influx of last-minute enrollees. The extension is available to seniors who contact the following for assistance before the end of the day Wednesday: the State Health Insurance Information Program
, Medicare’s toll-free information line
, and other organizations that partner with Medicare such as the Medicare Rights Center and the National Council on Aging.
Seniors seeking assistance may leave messages requesting help with enrollment. Starting Thursday, these individuals will be called back, and all enrollments must be completed by Sunday before 12:01 a.m.
