The American Diabetes Association recently voiced its support for the new White House rule which will help Americans with diabetes and other chronic diseases appeal denials of health insurance claims.

Falling under the new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the rule will help streamline the denial process and make rules more consistent nationwide.

According to Nash Childs, PE, Chair of the Board, American Diabetes Association, "In order to stay healthy, people with diabetes have to manage their disease with supplies like test strips, meters and insulin. Diabetes is a costly disease and without good coverage, the costs can make it difficult to manage properly. It is important that people with diabetes are treated fairly and given the opportunity to appeal any claims that are denied. The American Diabetes Association is grateful to the Obama administration for recognizing the need to make this available to everyone."
