President Obama to unveil new initiatives
President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are today expected to unveil new initiatives aimed to help middle-class Americans pay bills and save for retirement.
Reports indicate that the proposals include a $1.6 billion increase in federal funding for child care programs, a plan that would more than double the child care tax credit for families earning less than $85,000; and a program to cap student loan payments at 10 percent of income above "a basic living allowance."
Other initiatives that could be presented include efforts to expand tax credits to match retirement savings and plans intended to increase aid for families who care for elderly relatives.
