New home sales in June increased 23.6 percent to a seasonally adjusted, annual rate of 330,000, the Department of Commerce reports.

This figure -- which is the second lowest level since the Department began tracking the data in 1963 -- represents an increase from a downwardly revised rate of 267,000 new homes sold in May.

And finally, in terms of the year-over-year period examined, new home sales fell 16.7 percent.
