President Barack Obama will today sign into law health care legislation that will surely help define his legacy and influence the political landscape for some time to come

Obama will sign the bill and then speak at a ceremony with lawmakers.

Meanwhile, the Senate will take up a package of changes this week that the House of Representatives proposed in an effort to improve the bill.

Under the overhaul, 32 million Americans will be extended health care coverage, while the government health plan for the poor will be expanded, new taxes will be placed on the wealthy, and insurance practices such as refusing to cover those with pre-existing conditions will be eliminated.
