House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Wednesday that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act helps Americans reach the goals presented in the Declaration of Independence.

Pelosi, speaking to the House, said the health care reform law guarantees “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” She said this was because the law allows people to attain their goals since it makes it easier for them to change jobs without worries about insurance.

"A healthier life, the liberty to pursue happiness, free of the constraints that lack of healthcare might provide to a family," she said.

The Supreme Court is set to hear arguments next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on the constitutionality of the health care reform law.
