Mortgage applications up 14.3%
The Mortgage Bankers Association's seasonally adjusted index of mortgage applications rose 14.3 percent to 528.1 in the week ended January 8th.
This figure is compared to an index reading of 1,324.8 during the same period last year, the MBA reports.
Meanwhile, refinancing applications increased 21.8 percent, and purchase applications climbed 0.8 percent in the week-over-week period examined.
Finally, reports indicate that this action on the index brings the four-week moving average down 6.4 percent.
