Seventy-five percent of adults aged 18 or older -- and 62 percent of those aged 18 to 29 years -- intend to rely on Social Security to fund retirement, AARP reports.
Meanwhile the survey of 1,200 adults, comprised of 419 retirees, finds that 77 percent do not think they will have enough money to live comfortably throughout retirement.
And, in terms of whether the government should reduce Social Security in an effort to lessen the federal deficit, 85 percent of those surveyed are opposed and 72 percent are strongly opposed.
