President Obama’s proposed fiscal 2013 budget would decrease government spending on Medicare by $276 billion and Medicaid spending by $66 billion over 10 years, according to an analysis by the Congress Budget Office.
In part, the savings would be achieved by reducing payments to Medicare providers, the report said.
Beginning in 2015, the budget will also reduce the amount of revenue from taxes on providers that states can use for Medicaid, according to the CBO.
