LTC mergers and acquisitions up sharply in 2011

The long term care industry experienced a significant increase in merger, acquisition and takeover activity in 2011, according to a new report.
The Health Care M&A Report from Levin Associates found that merger and acquisition spending in the LTC sector increased to $16.2 million in 2011 from $12.1 the previous year.
The trend is expected to carry into 2012, as companies continue to increase market share, said Sanford B. Steever, Ph.D., editor of the report.
The health care sector saw merger and acquisition spending increase 11 percent in 2011, according to the report.
