Americans seeking financial advisors consider military experience a positive attribute, according to a new Edward Jones survey.
Three-quarters of those surveyed said they would be likely to work with a financial advisor who was formerly in the military. When asked why, 77 percent cited military veterans’ discipline, 73 percent said goal orientation and 72 percent cited integrity.
In addition, 6 in 10 said they would like to work with a veteran as a thank you for their service to the country. The survey also found 9 in 10 respondents said they think skills gained in the military are transferable to post-military careers, and more than half said those skills are specifically applicable to a career as a financial advisor.
The survey, conducted by ORC International on behalf of Edward Jones, included 1,006 respondents.
