Americans’ economic confidence is increasing, but it remains low on an absolute basis as concerns about unemployment, national debt and economic instability persist, according to Gallup.
The Gallup Economic Confidence Index is at -27, up from the summer’s low of -50. However, Americans continue to name the economy as the most important problem facing the country.
When asked what worries them most about the national economy at this time, 26 percent said unemployment, while 16 percent said the national debt and 10 percent said economic instability. Six percent said outsourcing of jobs overseas, and 5 percent said President Obama doing a poor job.
