The old saying “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is rubbish. Today Henry the dog with attitude has gone back to boot camp to learn some basics that he took for granted.

He didn’t really want to go; I could tell by the way he wouldn’t come when I called. This is standard practise for Mr. Attitude, he knows it all.

This reminded me of a conversation I had this week with an adviser who had been in business for 15 years, but had not really progressed in terms of income or building a sustainable business.

In actuality what he had was 15 one year experiences. You see, every year he did the same things and made the same mistakes. He believed his manner and style of communicating was the only way. He was a bit like the golfer with a terrible slice until a pro corrects it by showing him how to hold the club.

I explained that soft skills are a science, a skill that has to be practiced and perfected. By demonstrating our on line soft sales skills training program to him he quickly understood where he had been going wrong for all these years.

It is never too late — never stop discovering new ways to improve to get to the top of your game. I’m looking forward to welcoming Henry back into the family with a new attitude.

The great Zig Ziglar once said “It’s your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude."

Advice has a price don’t give it away… sell it!
